Elephants
The elephant pavilion opened in November 2004. The original elephant pavilion dates back to 1962 and is totally unsatisfactory for breeding. The current pavilion meets all the requirements both for modern breeding of these animals and raising their young. It is inhabited by a group of Asian elephants (Elephas maximus).
The pavilion also includes the “Elephant Jungle” exhibition. It is a sample of a humid virgin forest in which Indian elephants also live. Some of the animals you can see include the critically endangered Annam leaf turtle (Mauremys annamensis), the Chinese water dragon (Physignatus cocincinus), representatives of the bird kingdom, e.g. the Blue-crowned hanging parrot (Loriculus galgulus), the Pied imperial pigeon (Ducula bicolor), the Black Bulbul (Hypsipetes leucocephalus leucocephalus), Black-headed Sibia (Heterophasia desgodinsi desgodinsi), the Black-breasted thrush (Turdus dissimilis) and the Crested Wood Partridge (Rollulus rouloul).
