Owls
The northern owl aviaries were opened in 2005. They are occupied by the Snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus), the Ural owl (Strix uralensis macroura) and the Eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo bubo).
The majority of owl species hunt and are mainly active at dusk and at night, i.e. at a time when other birds do not hunt. Owls possess outstanding sight and hearing. Thanks to their very fine feathers, they fly almost noiselessly.
