A special group among parrots is composed of cockatoos, characteristized by their erectile crest (the well-known cockatiel also belongs to this group). They are represented at our Zoo by the Sulphur – crested cockatoo (Cacatua galerita). Along with this, the aviary is inhabited by a representative of the order of Charadriiformes Bush thick-knee (Burhinus grallarius).
The most distinctive inhabitants of the aviaries include a group of large species of South American parrots of the genus macaw: the Hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) and the Green-winged macaw (Ara chloroptera). There are also smaller species of rare South American parrots bred in the exhibits, namely the Vinaceous amazon (Amazona vinacea), the Golden parakeet (Guarouba guarouba), the Southern golden-capped conure (Aratinga auricapillus aurifrons), the Sun conure (Aratinga solstitialis) and the White–bellied caique (Pionites leucogaster leucogaster).
